Representatives from Sapphire Wind Farm Community Co-Investment held the final roadshow session at the Armidale Bowling Club on Thursday to promote Australia’s first opportunity for members of the local community to invest in a utility-scale wind farm. Investors have taken up about $7.4 million of the $10 million target amount on offer.

Andrew Dixon from CWP Renewables said the concept was explored for about two years and the level of interest was very strong.

"We've packaged it into an investment offer documented in a supplementary product disclosure statement, and now we have made the product open to the public until March 31," he said.
"That's when we will actually gather the funds committed and apply them to our project. So, this is the last opportunity for people to come and ask questions."
"I think we'll see a lot of sign ups over the next month. I'm not sure of the stats, but it's steadily trickling in."
Sapphire wind farm was constructed over a two-year period period and is the biggest wind farm in NSW.
"The whole point of this is sharing the benefits of the project with the local community," Mr Dixon said.
"We've confined the boundary of our offer to the Federal Electorate of New England.
"It's only for the local community because our project is in your midst."
