The Howell Road blase, which tarted at approximately 5pm on Tuesday afternoon, is covering an area of 20 hectares. No homes are in jeopardy.
An RFS spokesman confirmed that the fire’s current status is ‘being controlled’ and that nine trucks are taking on the flames.
Firefighters will use bulldozers to build heavy containment lines this evening, and will also conduct back burning overnight.
The spokesperson noted that locals may see an increase in smoke due to the back burning, but said there was no reason to be concerned.
The Northern Tablelands RFS forecasted a ‘very high’ fire danger rating today, with all Fire Permits suspended.
