Member for New England Barnaby Joyce has announced $20,000 funding for the Guyra Showground Society to upgrade its canteen facilities, including the barbecue and bar pavilion, which was listed as a top priority under the showground’s 2016-26 action plan.

Mr Joyce said it was very satisfying to make the announcement.
“Projects such as this are vital for the community fabric of Guyra - one of the highest towns in Australia and a vibrant, growing and very proud part of the New England.

“I look forward to having more spuds, lamb and tomatoes in Guyra and enjoying the upgraded barbecue and pavilion.”
The latest announcement follows news that Guyra Neighbourhood Centre will receive $6448 to upgrade its WiFi network for faster, more secure and reliable communication, as well as to purchase two new laptops.
Both projects were funded under the $22.5 million Round Four of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.
