“We thought there was a gap in the community because no-one had done anything like this for a long time. I think it was done a long time ago when our boss, John, was working at First National,” Caitlin said.
“Basically we’re getting entries in for people to register their names, where their Christmas display is and once we get all the entries in we will provide an interactive map that we can send out to the Armidale community so they know where all the best Christmas lights are in town.”
She said Bing Lee and the Regional Australia Bank had come aboard as sponsors and provided $500 each.

“There will be a prize for the best house and the most money raised for their nominated charity,” Caitlin said.
“Entries will close on December 1, that’s when people start driving around to have a look at the lights, I guess; I mean, all the enthusiasts start putting their lights up now really.”
Caitlin said the amounts of prize money were yet to be finalised, but the judging panel would be made up of representatives from the three businesses involved in the spectacular.
“And then I think we might have a public vote,” she said.
“We will have a stall set up for last minute registrations at the turning on of the lights on November 29.”
