Back at the Guyra Sportsground, the Super Spuds took on a Bullets team travelling with just one substitute on the bench. 

Against the under-strength Bingara team, the Spuds capitalised running in opening half tries to Ben Vidler, Rodney Bull, Anthony Dittman, Randy Mulligan, Jayden Field and Beau Orchard as well as a brace to Dan Vidler to the Bullets’ one. 

The visitors bagged their second four-pointer in the early stages of the second stanza but the Spuds found their feet to continue with their try-scoring efforts through Matt Duthie. 

Dan Vidler brought up his treble, Field and Orchard landed their second while Tom Cleaver rounded out the scorers’ list. 

Player-coach Anthony Dittman said it was a better all-round performance. 

“We had a game plan from the get-go and we stuck with it pretty well,” he said. 

“Even though the score line was a bit of a blow out we kept our heads straight and kept playing structured footy, not just throwing it around.

“It was good footy played by all, everyone did their job.

“We welcome the bye very much with little niggling injuries with a few players.

“Hoping to come back off the bye fresh and hopefully keep the momentum going.”

The Spuds have the bye for round 12 before hosting the high-flying Ashford Roosters in round 13. 

A week after turning up to Walcha with 11 players and being demolished, the Spudettes were aiming to step up a notch against the third-placed Bingara Missiles team. 

The visiting side hit the ground running but Guyra bounced back and led 16-12 late in the first-half. 

A mountain of possession went the way of the Missiles who put points on the board and ran away with the game 30-16. 

“We played really well,” coach Graham Smith said. 

“We were in front for a while, up until just before half-time and then they got a lot of possession and put a couple of tries on.

“I was really impressed with the effort the girls put in.”

Smith said only having one on the bench saw his team fatigue which contributed to the side dropping off at the end of each half. 

“Again, we just ran out of puff towards the end,” he said. 

“We only had one on the bench on the weekend. 

“We just have to control the ball towards the end of the halves. 

“We are just not finishing off those last 10 minutes of each half. We will just keep going and play every game as it comes.”
