The Group introduced new divisions including under 6s and added a third age group in league tag and Guyra took advantage with plenty of young players coming through and creating the opportunity for the club to fill those extra teams, though they don’t have under 14s, 16s or senior league tag for 2018.
The under 12s were the biggest winners of the day as they thrashed Moree 50-6.
Two under 8s teams laced up the boots against Moree and secured wins in both.
The under 10s league tag lost their season opener 28-20 while the under 13s took a 28-20 win.
Club president Gina Lockyer said the junior girls will only get better as the season goes on.
“We had our junior league tag, they were just so excited, all of them,” she said.
“We lost but they played so well so they will definitely improve. Our intermediate league tag girls won, they had a blinder against Moree - they were excellent.
“Everyone had fun, it was so great to see.”
The under 10s rounded out the day’s scores, losing 28-8.
This Saturday, Guyra travel to Uralla to take on the junior Tigers with the under 6s and under 10 league taggers beginning the day at 9.30am.
The under 8s play at 10.20am followed by the under 10s at 11.10am before the under 12s finish the day’s games at 12pm.
