The Glen Innes and Guyra Shows are highlights of the communities' year, and students at the Guyra Central School scored in agriculture and art.

Students in the agriculture farm prepared cattle and poultry, and refined their sheep judging skills in preparation. Claire Davidson excelled at the Glen Innes show, placing second in the sheep judging, and first in the fruit and vegetable section. Ben Stevens made the finals for two of the sheep categories, while Matthew Sisson, Tayla Mitchell, Jamie Loeb, and Billy Youman each made the finals for one of their events. Stephanie Cameron gained a finals spot in the beef cattle judging competition.
Many students stood out in the junior judging competitions at the Guyra Show. Robert Sisson and Ellie Mitchell placed first and second in the Year 7 division, while Jamie Loeb gained second place in the Year 8 section. Myles Williams placed second in the Year 9 – 10 category, while B.J. Cameron finished fourth in the open section. Jack Lockyer was also a finalist in the cattle parading section, which saw some very fierce competition.
The Murray Grey females performed exceptionally well in the stud cattle competition, and “Bonny” was awarded the Champion Murray Grey exhibit at Guyra.
The school wishes to thank Gwyn and Ian Pearson for their help and support over the two shows, and for transporting the cattle to and from Glen Innes.
Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 busily prepared entries for the display of artworks at the pavilion. Many entries received first or second place, or were highly commended – and the students proudly showed family and friends their entries.
“Outstanding effort and achievement from all students,” said a spokesperson for the school, “and we now look forward to Armidale Show early in March.”
