Communication services will be installed in coming weeks ready for the official opening of the 32-bed facility.
Armidale Regional Council service leader Krista Schmidt said the facility will be opened in the first half of 2018.
“We had been looking at an earlier transition to the new building but the comfort and care of the residents is our primary concern,” she said.
“Accreditation renewals for Kolora’s services are due next month and we want to have all of that in place, as well as a fully completed new building, before implementing a detailed plan to move into the new facility with as little interruption and inconvenience to the residents as possible.
“Since late last year we have been liaising with residents and their families to prepare for the move.
In addition, there are a number of community groups keen to assist with the move.” The $7.5 million facility is next to the hospital.
