Families and friends wandered down to Civic and Curtis Park for council’s annual afternoon of fun in the park, which included stalls, food vendors, rides and a demonstration from the State Emergency Service.
Earlier in the day, Armidale Regional Council recognised the contribution of outstanding community members during their Australia Day awards ceremony.
Ambassadors Geoff Coombes and Samantha Hollier-James, ofTour de Cure, shared a message of hope for the future.
”Together, Australia has done some amazing things,” Ms Hollier-James told the packed Armidale Town Hall.
The ceremony also welcomed the city’s newest citizens with the a presentation of certifications.
Armidale City Band provided the music during the ceremony with national treasures such as Waltzing Matilda.
