“The helicopter is honestly our saviour up there. Even in a town this size, we don’t have a lot of facilities for critically ill patients,” she said.
The local singer/songwriter jumped at the chance to raise funds for the valuable service, and recently returned from a record-breaking stint in the biennial Drover’s Run.
Participants spent 13 days trekking around outback Australia, raising over $195,000 for the helicopter on the way – topping last year’s $128, 000 effort.
Emma joined fellow musician Matt O'Leary in providing entertainment for the group and the towns they visited, and said she saw a spirit of generosity everywhere they went.
“You just never know when you or someone you love’s going to need it,” she said of the helicopter.
