Despite still having one round in the regular season to play, Glen Innes-Guyra have snagged a spot in the New England Rugby Union finals. They had the bye in round 14 but sit far enough in front of Armidale Blues to qualify for a finals berth.
Whether they finish in third or fourth will be determined this weekend but the GhostStags are likely to face the Barbarians in the minor semi-final on July 30.
It was a slow start for the side from two towns after coming together at the start of this season but built momentum after earning their first victory in round seven.
This Saturday, Glen Innes-Guyra will come up against Robb College at Bellevue Oval, who are coming off a 14-5 victory against the red-hot Barbarians.
The winner will progress to the following week’s finals for a chance at landing a spot in the decider on August 12 with the loser knocked out of the competition.
St Albert’s College have wrapped up the minor premiership with only one loss this season and will face Robb College in the major semi-final on July 29.
