ONE house was destroyed when a tornado ripped through towns in the state's north on Saturday afternoon.

The house in Tenterden, near Guyra, was destroyed by strong winds. No one was injured in the incident, a NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman said.
Crews from the RFS have teamed up with NSW State Emergency Service teams in the area.

SATURDAY 5.45pm: The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of tornadoes, destructive wind, large hailstones and heavy rainfall.
Locations which may be affected include Armidale, Inverell, Tenterfield, Lismore and Grafton.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Metropolitan, Illawarra and Central Tablelands districts and the warning for these districts is cancelled.
The bureau reports that 45mm of rainfall was recorded Narrabri airpoirt in the hour from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
A tornado was reported near Ben Lomond, north of Guyra, NSW, about 4:20pm.

The storms are likely to produce large hailstones, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Scone, Armidale, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri and Coonabarabran.
FRIDAY: Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include Sydney, Penrith, Parramatta, Nowra, Bowral, Batemans Bay, Eden, Armidale, Tenterfield, Katoomba, Goulburn and Tamworth.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
