Bryce George Perkins appeared in the Armidale District Court via video link on Wednesday, facing charges of robbery armed with an offensive weapon, supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.
The 27-year-old Armidale man, who appeared via video link from the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre in Silverwater, was committed for sentence on April 22 by magistrate Karen Stafford.
Perkins stands accused of committing the armed robbery at Priceline pharmacy on September 27.
Police said he was armed with a replica pistol and a knife.
The court heard a litre of methadone was taken from the chemist.
Prosecutors alleged Perkins was found in possession of the drug later in the day when police confronted him.
It is alleged that Perkins had 600 millilitres of the drug in a backpack.
Police arrested Perkins at a North Street address after identifying him as a suspect from CCTV footage.
The court heard Perkins was taken to Armidale Hospital in a drug-induced coma and charged with the offences upon his recovery.
Perkins first appeared in court on September 28 and was refused bail.
He was subsequently refused bail a further two times, despite his defence making bail applications on the grounds of mental illness.
Perkins' charge of supply prohibited drug will be sentenced separately and was adjourned to May 22. Ms Stafford told the court that the supply charge could be dropped.
