Golf news from around the town

Guyra women’s golf

We enjoyed being back on the course again last Wednesday to play a nine-holes Eclectic competition. The back nine remained closed due to the wet conditions on the 11th and 16th fairways.

Following a poor score for the first nine holes, it was a relief to have a second chance to improve on the final round! Winner was Meg Simpson with 29 1/3 and runner-up was Julie Walker with 30 1/3. We hope to complete the final 27 holes of the Championships this Wednesday. On the program for Wednesday, April 26, is a Stroke and putting competition, incorporating the 3rd Golf NSW Medal. The starter is Jenny Rogers.

With perfect autumn weather on Sunday, a dozen golfers contested the Jones Cracknell and Starr 18 hole stroke. The winner with 66 nett was Len Stanley. Len also took home the Monthly Mug, making short work of the mug’s contents.

Runner-up was Dom Hill with 69 nett,  NTP 7th was Ian Taylor, long drive 8th D Hill, 2nd shot 9th  P.Taylor.

Next week is the popular soccer club three-person ambrose. If you want to show your support for the soccer club, organise a team and be at the club from 10am.
