The competition was tough, but Guyra women Belinda Lenehan and Pip White took out the Deepwater Open Day with a score of 47 Stableford points.
“There were some fair handicaps there, some really low handicaps so there were some great players out there on the day,” Belinda Lenehan said.
“It was a 4BBB open and Pip and myself won the day.”
The Stableford scoring system meant that the ladies were counted on the number of strokes taken at each hole as opposed to the traditional scoring method that requires golfers to have the lowest score.
Ms Lenehan said herself and Ms White didn’t expect to come out with such a good result.
"We definitely weren’t expecting to win, there were golfers from all over there,” she said.
“People came from Walcha, Tenterfield and Armidale to play.
“We play pretty regularly in Guyra, nearly every Friday so that’s mainly how we prepared for the Open Day.”
The next best score was 41 points.
In Guyra, Joyce Betts won an individual Stableford event with her score of 36 points.
Runner up was Julie Walker with 34 points and Donna White won the Nearest the Pin silver charm for the ninth hole in the October roundup.
