It’s raining, it’s pouring however, the old man is certainly not snoring. He is sitting listening to the rain on the roof, you have to love colour bond at a time like this, at 02:34am Wednesday morning writing the report for Guyra Junior soccer, when it wants to be written it wants to be written.

All is right with the world however; Carly understands her requirements and obligations as daughter of Murray, sorry darling not off record is not off the record.
Webby is ready and raring to go after a lot of hard work pounding the pavement here in Guyra.
Here she comes resort pool, now which one will she choose, don’t worry Webby you have it all covered or not I suppose, depending of course on how you are feeling at the time.
Kelsie You-man has all her basic living needs taken care of at home, thanks Dasha and Tania, now there is a funny story for another time. Most importantly of course we are once again receiving some beautiful generalised precipitation which will hopefully set us up well for the coming season.
Another weekend of junior soccer to be impacted by the weather last Saturday with several of our home games not being played due to the prevailing conditions.
I am not entirely sure of just how many games did go ahead but I do know that quite a few away teams forfeited on the day.
Not to be deterred however several of our younger under six and under seven sides played against each other adding some younger family members to the mix for good measure.
Going from strength to strength are the under 6 Gremlins who played out a very competitive game against the South Armidale Serpents.
The young players from this side all played with determination with coaches Amanda and Nicole very impressed by their level of sportsmanship.
Tommy Ward, Parker Campbell and Connor Montague were best for the Gremlins.
Their passing and team work was exceptional with all three committing to the play throughout the entire game. This little side is certainly one that the Guyra Club can be very proud of.
Scoring her first goal in any form of soccer last week was under 7 Cobras star Logan Mendez. Logan coached by ex-English International Hayden Raper is certainly beginning to learn much from her esteemed coach.
Unfortunately much of what she has learnt has been put into disarray after watching the performances of her own father on the pitch for Guyra.
Logan’s father Addy, loosely termed a striker for the Guyra Thirsty Thirds, certainly is not showing his offspring the way to go about scoring goals with an abysmal season so far.
Blake Raper also scored for the Cobras in a confident performance by this young side. Playing some of his best soccer of the season was Levi Vanderwolf who was in sterling form.
With several of their normal team away on school excursion and others complaining of those usual and expected winter ailments the under 10 Lil Casper’s went into last Saturday’s match well down on their usual numbers, a player short the entire game.
Thanks once again to Ashley Donnelly for filling in the second week in a row. Considering the testing conditions and the lack of players the Lil Casper’s only went down by two goals with the Guyra team congratulated by the North’s coach post game for their efforts.
The entire team dug deep particularly in defence with best on ground this week going to the two Coopers, Brennan and Wilson, who were simply outstanding. A goal each was their reward for such a committed display in both attack and defence.
A nice display of attacking soccer was witnessed by the under 16 Pumas last Saturday admittedly against an undermanned opposition.
Playing against a TAS side with only nine players at their disposal the Pumas were ruthless coming away with a 13 – 0 win. It is very difficult to gauge just how well the team played against such questionable opposition, however the Pumas did appear to be working well together as a team.
Not such a great game to go into the finals with however with Guyra’s final round game to be a Bye next Saturday, August 27.
Amongst those to score was a very excitable Kelsie Youman, I don’t think it is her first ever goal but it certainly was a just reward for her efforts on the field over the past several rounds.
Others to score for Guyra were; Cody Martin 5, BJ Cameron 3, Taylor Brennan 2, Matty Sisson 1 and Harrison Dowden 1.
But for the heroic actions of assistant coach Scott Youman the Pumas may very well have been without head coach Dasha for the remainder of the season and perhaps even longer.
With an out of control pergola careening directly for our diminutive coach, the assistant with scant regard for personal safety valiantly leaped forward screening Dasha from almost certain disembodiment.
The Pumas are certainly extremely fortunate to have such a united close knit coaching team at their disposal.
Thanks to all those people that supported the Guyra Soccer Club last Weekend down at our sponsors hotel, Cookies Guyra Hotel.
A very successful and entertaining evening was had by all with money raised on the night going directly back into the development of soccer here in Guyra.
Only two weeks of soccer remaining for those of our younger players with their last match of the season down for Saturday, September 3.
Semi-finals for those 12 years and older will begin on the 3rd with the Grand final set to be played on Saturday September 17 for all grades both seniors and juniors.
