Numbers at Ben Lomond Hall grew from 6pm on Friday night December 11 for the 2015 Christmas Tree. Children young and old, awaited the arrival of Santa, lulled by seasonal tunes from Peter Cole, tables filled with tasty food as well as the tempting wafts and sizzles from the barbecue.

Excitement peaked among children of all ages as Simon in the RFS truck delivered Santa to the door with his enormous woolpack loaded full of presents. Once all parcels were distributed, the papers were torn open to reveal the multiple colours and sounds of Christmas. Santa made his getaway to a chorus of Jingle Bells and a wail from the fire truck siren.
Raffle and 100 club prizes were drawn, thanks to the generosity of many donors. The auction items attracted a crowd – especially the Christmas Trees created by the students of Ben Lomond School. Wooden toys generously donated by Steven Holt, Blush Tomatoes from Costa Group and the lolly machine, and a candle holder by Tania Moorhead. Party goers lingered to catch up on news and share a few stories.
Thank you to our generous donors J&A Cave, Costa group, Dasha’s Home Timber &Hardware, JT.Fossey(Billy Walker), Narelle Grimston, Al Noade & the community, Steve Holt, Kirks IGA, Landmark, Tania Moorhead, Whites Butchery, R&B White. Prize winners are listed in January Message Muster
On Monday night December 14, Guyra Combined Churches Choir sang selected pieces at Ben Lomond as has become the custom prior to Christmas each year.
Members of the community joined in with the traditional carols accompanied by Julie Stride and Sue Vanderwolf. A sumptuous supper was enjoyed at the conclusion of the singing.
A big thank you to the choir for travelling to entertain at the Ben Lomond carols night and support for our community carols. Special thanks to Julie and Sue for the music. The collection taken up will support resources for scripture in schools.
