Saturday saw J Pennell and R Walls take to the green in Handicap Singles. With both bowlers on the same handicap, this was a scratch start battle.
Robert out first, 1-nil. John back at him, 2-1.
All square next at 2-all before John snuck ahead again, leading 6-2 after six ends.
Robert then dug his heels in, stringing six ends together and jumping to a 16-6 lead.
And after 16 ends with Robert leading 20-7, the weather intervened causing the cancellation of this match (serious in-club time).
Sunday we witnessed a Minor Singles match between J Hamel and R Cox.
Roger came out of the blocks the better, going to a 7-nil lead after four ends.
John hung in there and after 10 ends was trailing 5-9. Roger then skipped out to be leading 17-5 after 14.
These two then ebbed and flowed and after the 22nd end Roger was still leading by 23-10.
John clawed back a tad to be trailing 17-23 after 25 ends. Roger then stretched his lead out to 28-17 and on the springboard.
Not to be outdone, John dug deep, coming up with the shots and by end 32 (lo and behold) the score was reading 28-all.
With Roger scoring on the next two ends, he went home with a hard fought 31-28 victory (worthy of a final) over John.
