The five-year-old gelding now has three wins and four seconds from nine starts at the track – a fair effort considering a career record of 4:8:3 from 29 starts.
The start to race one was delayed as hometown favourite Miggeru ($2.10, Ben Looker), out of Peter Youngberry’s stable, refused to cooperate with the barrier attendants.
When eventually he did, Miggeru took up the early running but was swamped in the straight as Our Blevic, ridden by apprentice Jesse Graham, held on to win in a photo from the John Shelton trained Cash Spinner ($6, Matthew Bennett) with another locally trained mare, Shane Everson’s Excellent Morning ($5, Matthew Paget) third.
“He is an honest horse. He tries all the time and loves the Grafton track,” trainer Ian Cook said.
