They enjoyed their stay and decided to extend it for a few days to check out the area. Like many older Australians they are determined to stay fit, live longer and stay healthy.
“When you ride, there is so much more to see,” Judy said. “It is like taking a slow motion tour – walking is too slow, a car or bus is too fast.”
“When you cycle you are able to stop easily and engage with what’s happening and what you see is something totally different to what’s on the road.”
Having cycled in France and also ridden rail trails in other states, the couple remarked that locals should not underestimate the natural attractions of the area.
“We loved the fact that it is cooler and the scenery is unique,” Graham said. “It was delightful and we would definitely come back to witness the different seasons.”
“Our first thought when we crossed the railway line was that it would make a great rail trail,” he said. “I think there are opportunities to be made and that business will follow.”
The couple also said that they are not big spenders, but on their two day stay they paid for their accommodation, meals, coffee and even purchased a pair of second hand jeans – it all adds up.
