Moree showed why it is one of the favourites for the Group 19 first grade premiership, but the Super Spuds and Spudettes also put up a much better performance.
The Spudettes almost came away with a result in the Leaguetag but couldn’t find a late score and went down 16-10.
Taylor Waters and Bea Roberts scored Guyra’s tries, while Britt Youman was voted players’ player.
Co-coach Tom Starr said it was a vastly better performance from the Spudettes and that improvement should continue.
Club points went to Bea Roberts (3), Sophie Gaukroger (2) and Britt Youman (1).
In the men’s game the Spuds were more competitive right from the start and even scored early to make it 6-all.
The Boars soon got on top and led 42-6 at the break.
With Northern Division reps like Marshall Barker and Ben Williams in the Moree side, as well as mercurial fullback Brenton Cochrane, the Spuds’ defence was tested throughout.
Another try in the second half gave the home fans something to cheer but Moree ran out 82-10 winners.
Coach Stephen Kliendienst said it was “60-per cent better” than the previous week.
“We’ve just got to do some defensive work this week,” he said.
New recruit Nesi Puta made an immediate impression up front with a players’ player performance.
His hard running left some bruises on the Moree tacklers.
He was also given three club points, Tony Dittman earned two despite a shoulder injury and Beau Orchard picked up one.
The team’s youngest members, Brock Laybutt and Kyle Mongta, were the try-scorers.
This week Guyra is at home again, this time to the other Moree side, the two-time premiership-winning Boomerangs.
This week's games are set down for tomorrow night. Leaguetag kicks off at 7.30pm with the first grade to follow at about 8.30pm. The bar and canteen will be open.
