Opting to bat first after winning the toss proved to be the right decision this time around. After losing a couple of early wickets Brandon Landsborough came in at number three with the score on 39. He put together another good innings to finish on 58, with 52 of those runs coming from boundaries. He was joined by Zac Atkin and together they had Guyra on top with the third wicket falling at 114.
Guyra then looked to be in danger of a lower order collapse with a couple of quick wickets falling, before Demielle Landsborough joined Zac in the centre. He took up where brother Brandon had left off, hitting the ball well. Zac continued his good form eventually falling for 75, his total included nine fours and three sixes. Following an early exit in his last outing, Demielle set about redeeming himself and finished the day not out on 60, and the team was in a healthy position with a total of 6 for 241 at the close of innings.
The Guyra bowling line up were consistent, and with regular wickets falling, Ex Services were unable to gain the upper hand. Coming in at number four, T Brown was the mainstay of their innings, however his unbeaten score of 77 was not enough to claim victory for his team who were dismissed for 167.
Best of the Guyra bowlers was Jake Ellis with 3 for 15 and Heath Dowsett with 3 for 43. Demielle Landsborough cemented his good performance with the bat by taking three catches.
Guyra will be at home this weekend on the recreation ground turf. They will take on the Barbarians in the top of the table clash and it promises to be a great afternoon of cricket.
