They enjoyed a break stopping in at JoJos on Bradley before setting off for a steep climb up the Ben Lomond Range and then on to Glen Innes. The riders set out from Sydney travelling the 1200km to their destination of Brisbane.
The charity bike ride was conceived in 2005 by two friends Trevelyan Bale and Gary Richardson to give back to the hospitals that effortlessly help sick children in Australia. The inaugural ride took place in 2006 and to date the 1200kms for Kids charity bike ride has generously fundraised over $1 million.
The 1200kms for Kids riders have been supporting the Children’s Hospital Foundation since its inception in 2005.
In 2011, the 1200kms for Kids riders began supporting the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and to date, seventeen pieces of life-saving medical equipment has been donated from this charity bike ride to hospitals and health services.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation is a children’s charity that continues to make a significant impact on the lives of sick children at children’s hospitals and health service centres in every state of Australia.
To support the 1200kms for Kids riders to continue to make a difference to young Aussie lives through the generous work of the Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, donations can be made at www.1200kmsforkids.com.
