James fought a local fighter, Jake Penaroyo from Westside Boxing Club who happens to be a sparring partner for IBO World Champion, Leonardo Zappavigna.
The fight was scheduled for 4 x 3 minute rounds and James came out guns blazing from the minute the bell rang for the first round.
James dominated the fight from beginning to end and dropped Penaroyo to the canvas several times throughout the fight. James won convincingly with a unanimous points decision.
James’ trainer, Ashley White and manager, Rob Fogarty have some big plans for James and see the potential for him to become a top contender in the Australian ranks. He is currently ranked 17th in the 63.5kg weight division.
MacDonald’s next fight will be in front of his home crowd at the Guyra Community Hall where Ashley White and Rob Fogarty will be kicking off their Professional Boxing and Kickboxing series.
James will be the main event, fighting an international opponent and Nick “B52” Browning will be semi main fighting as a professional Kickboxer.
The card will be filled with local fighters from Guyra, Armidale and Inverell. It will be a professional fighting series to be held around the New England Area, the likes of which have never been seen before in smaller country areas.
