After a week’s rest from their game against Hot Steppers, Muffin Stuffers met Karizmar in the 2014 Grand Final on Monday night. This was set to be an exciting game with the top two teams taking to the court and it certainly did not disappoint!
Muffin Stuffers took the lead early in the first half with a 7-4 score line after the first quarter. Karizmar played hard in the second to bring the score to 11 all.
The third quarter saw Muffin Stuffers pull ahead by two, only to have Karizmar even the score with only minutes to spare. A goal to Karizmar then had Muffin Stuffers fighting against the clock to try and level the scores only to miss out by the narrowest of margins.
The final score was 23-22 to Karizmar. Congratulations to both teams for a truly epic game and thank you to all of the supporters who joined us for this nail-biting event.
The Ladies Netball Presentations took place after the Grand Final with special gifts presented to our Grand Finalists.
The Best and Fairest this year went to Elle Rosten who, in her first year of netball, always plays with a smile on her face, enthusiasm and without complaint.
Presentations were also made to our umpires who have made this season possible. A special thank you goes to Amy Holman and Cairistain Wall who have travelled from Armidale every Monday night to umpire our games. Thank you also to the umpires provided by the teams this season. Your effort and commitment is greatly appreciated!
Last, but certainly not least, congratulations and thank you to the Guyra Netball Association Committee for all of their hard work and their commitment to the 2014 season!
My fellow committee members Rachael Bull, Jo Presnell, Tracey McLauchlin, Lorraine Brazier and Dana McMartin have worked tirelessly over the past five months to bring Netball to Guyra in the form of the Netta Program and the Ladies Competition.
We hope that you have all enjoyed this season and invite you to join us next year for an even better one!
