The ground and weather were in excellent condition to play rugby and the Ghosts came out firing. They took the game up to the Barbarians in the first seven to eight minutes to score a try near the posts to lead 5 nil, with Beau Orchard failing to convert.

The Barbarians then stepped up the pace to score out wide, with the try not converted to equal the score. Minutes later they were awarded a penalty right in front of the posts for an easy three pointer taking the lead 8-5 which remained the score at half time.

Barbarians took hold of the game in the second half with some excellent kicking from their full back Keith Ellis. The Barbarians were able to capitalize on Guyra’s mistakes, out-positioning our backs and scoring from the loose ball

Late in the second half , Guyra’s strike out side centre arrived (after work commitments) to take to the field. Minutes later he scored a try near the posts which was successfully converted to take score to 37-12 in favour of Barbarbians,

The Guyra players were there in body, but not in spirit. They were lack lustre  in their attack and defence allowing the Baas to dictate the way the game was played.

This Saturday the Ghosts take on Robb College in both 2nd and 1st grade. Both grades are looking for their first win over Robb. 

In their last game,  Guyra was penalized 13 penalties to one in the second half going down from a lead of 25-13 at half time to lose 25-32.

It is also ladies day this Saturday so we expect a big crowd at the game. Proud sponsors of the game this weekend is Multi Motors.

Bids for the trailer load of farm merchandise can be given to Mark Atkin or Craig Waters at the game on Saturday if any people are unable to attend the auction at the pub after the game.
