Browning, who trains with Ashley White at the Pro Roughy Gym, came up against Adam Fitzsimmons on one of the biggest promotions that has hit New South Wales boxing, called ‘DETONATION’.
“The fight was very even with Adam Fitzsimmons winning the first two rounds and Nick coming back in the third and fourth rounds,” Ashley said. “I believe that it should have been a draw, but it went to the local boy from Newcastle Adam Fitzsimmons.”
They are still waiting to hear from the promoter if Nick and Adam’s fight will be televised on Fox sports. On the night Ashley also got to catch up with former trainer John Hallford and Australian boxing icon Jeff Fenech.
Fenech was encouraging and said that Nick has a great future in the sport of boxing. ‘DETONATION 2’ is scheduled for July 18 with Nick Browning and Ashley’s heavyweight boxer Mitch Therle from Glen Innes fighting on the show.
Ashley has established a good array of fighters as well as his adult Muay Thai classes since setting up his gym.
“There have been some good results with motivation and weight loss,” he said. “I would also like to confirm that we will be reopening the former ‘Sweat Shed’ under the name of ‘Guyra Martial Arts Academy’ providing classes for kids and adults.”
