It might have initially been set up to help regional Australian businesses make it through the drought but Buy from the Bush has continued to boost the sales of its featured businesses throughout the coronavirus lockdown.
The grassroots social media campaign, set up by Grace Brennan in October 2019, helped generate $5 million in sales for its featured businesses in four months.
On average those businesses experienced a "300 per cent sales uplift" within a month of being featured and one in five hired new workers reports The Daily Liberal.
The initiative has made all the difference to range of businesses doing it tough in regional and rural Australia.
One of those businesses was Fiona Schofield Millinery, in the NSW Central West town of Orange.
Milliner Fiona Schofield was caught off guard by the surge of online orders and emails after being featured on Buy from the Bush.
"I've been inundated, it's been wonderful", she told the Central Western Daily.
Coonamble boutique Mink and Me, saw its revenue grow almost five-fold in the weeks after the launch of Buy from the Bush.
Eight months later, boutique owner Lucy Moss is still marvelling at the "life-changing" impact of the movement.
Prior to Buy from the Bush, her online shopfront accounted for 20 per cent of her revenue, but that rose to as high as 65 per cent in the last quarter of 2019, she said.
"We had to take on new staff, because before that, I was pretty much it, as a one-woman show," Mrs Moss said.
