It's easy to see the impact of coronavirus every day - people giving each other a wide berth on the pavement, masks on faces, hand sanitiser at store entries and exits.
But what hasn't been so easy to see is the divide it has created in kids' education - those with access to a home computer and good internet, and those without.
For some parents the concern about home-schooling wasn't based on whether they would be good teachers or not, it was the lack of access to technology.
The tech most of us take for granted, probably the tech you are using to read this right now.
Launceston, Tasmania, grandmother Donna Kupsch was one of those anxious about how she would make ends meet, pay the bills, and find spare money to buy her grandkids a computer.
She has legal guardianship of her daughter's four children after her daughter Jessica was murdered by her former partner in 2012.
"We didn't have a computer, and I was going to have to find the money somewhere, but we really couldn't afford it," she said.
"It caused me a lot of anxiety, I didn't even know how I would go as a teacher but knowing we didn't have a computer worried me."
Thankfully, The Smith Family came to Ms Kupsch's rescue. But not everybody is so lucky.
A national report, the Australian Digital Inclusion Index, which is commissioned annually by the Australian Government, shows Tasmania is ranked last out of all the states and territories for digital inclusion.
The best ranked is the ACT, followed by Victoria and NSW. You can see the full 2019 report here.
Globally, Australian internet speeds are ranked 68th in the world (that puts us behind Kazakhstan and Vietnam). Oh, our Kiwi neighbours clock in at 24 - in case you were wondering.
As we continue to move to a more remote workforce and education system, our internet and technology divide - between those in high-incomes and low, the cities and the regions - is in need of much closer scrutiny.
