In a low-scoring affair by the current competition's standards, Guyra scored the win but they didn't do it easily.
They batted first and their opening five's scorecard read 4, 6, 4, 4 and 4.
Matt Simpson and Brandon Landsborough steadied things with 16 and 46 before captain Charlie White stepped up to the crease for a captain's knock.
White scored a match-high 50 not out as Guyra made their way to 161.
Hillgrove's Max Laurie did the most damage with 4-31, Olly Schmude snaring 3-24, Sean Skinner, James Treweeke and Sam Johnson snagging one wicket each.
"It certainly wasn't batsmen-friendly this week," White said.
"It looked like a good wicket but it was a little bit soft underneath.
"I went in there, we weren't in the best position and just tried to hang around and got lucky."
When it was their turn to bat, Hillgrove's top five scorecard didn't look any better than Guyra's with 0, 16, 0, 0 and 6.
James Treweeke was his side's top-scorer with 36, followed by Sean Skinner with 25 as they were bowled out for 140.
Tyson Burey was the main destroyer with 5-21 off eight overs. BJ Cameron chimed in with 3-40 while Landsborough and Jake Ellis snagged one each.
Hillgrove were missing Josh Croft, Matt Schaefer and Dick Heagney while Guyra were missing Demielle Landsborough and Mitch Woods.
White was happy with the win but wary of Hillgrove's absent players.
"They were [under-strength], so we can't get too carried away," he said.
"The fellas brought up did, they performed well.
"They have got some bloody good juniors in their side.
"I was really impressed with Olly Schmude's bowling, he is going to cause a few issues in Armidale cricket pretty soon."
As was the case for most of the the season, White was still disappointed in the side's fielding.
"Same as Easts, we dropped off a bit for periods there but they picked up at the end when we were able to finish it off," he said.
"It is an area that needs work but it is improving week-by-week."
Guyra's second grade side also snarred a win in their match against Easts.
Grant Ryan top-scored with 88 while returnee Matt Jackson was next best with 54 as Guyra notched up 6-264 with the bat.
In reply, Easts only managed 156 with the bat, Justin McKay the best of Guyra's bowlers with 3-22.
Billy Youman, Joey Ryan and Andrew Pearson managed two wickets each while Dan Stace snared one.
Third grade saw Guyra tumble against The Armidale School.
Guyra were bowled out for 86 and only managed to restrict TAS to 5-88.
Cody Patterson was a standout with five wickets in the loss.
