The state's best young riders saddled-up for the annual Pony Club NSW state sporting, campdrafting and team penning championships held at the weekend.

More than 20 riders and their mounts from the local Zone 13 area, including Guyra's Mackenzie Ellem, Brooke Grills and Darcy Grills, made their way to Merriwa for the event.
Friday saw the arrival of more than 200 competitors from 25 NSW zones and Queensland.
From there, they held a fitness and a vet check was completed on each horse scheduled to compete.
Competition started early on Saturday morning with the riders competing in seven disciplines.
The events included, pole bending, flag, barrel and bonfield bounce along with the three mug race, sporting figure of eight and the diamond flag.
It was the first time the the Guyra competitors had competed at state level.
Darcy competed in the under 11 age group and received top 10 ribbons in two events.
He tied for ninth in the Sporting Figure of Eight and won 10th place in the bonfield bounce.
Brooke competed in the under 13 age group.
She finished in 12th place win the flag race and 13th in the three mug race.
Mackenzie also competed in the under 11 and came home with a massive four ribbons.
She earned her first start in a state final in the bending race and scored the fifth place.
Mackenzie also received seventh place in the flag race, eighth in the barrels and ninth in the bonfield bounce.
Her results across the board put her in 10th place overall.
The Guyra Pony Club riders should be extremely proud of themselves, there were some very talented riders out there.
Zone 13 won the highest point score and NSW beat Queensland in the interstate trophy.
Also competing for Zone 13 were riders from Walcha, Emmaville, Glen Innes and Armidale.
The campdrafting and team penning championships followed the sporting events.
Other notable results from the Zone's riders included Walcha's Hannah Dunn winning champion 15 to 17 years and Matthew Ireland reserve champion under 26 years.
