Guyra Central School's Primary Boys Cricket Team played a straight bat against Ben Venue Public School on Thursday, March 7, but were defeated.

The Guyra team travelled to Armidale to play Ben Venue in the Primary School Sports Association Knockout Competition in Harris Park.

Guyra Central won the coin toss, and captain Lincoln Brown chose to bat.
Brendan Landsborough and Rave Brazier were Guyra's first batters. Ben Venue soon bowled Rave out, but Guyra went on to score 58 runs. Tynan Bull made 10 of the runs, and Darcey Heagney finished not out.
It was Ben Venue's turn to bat, and Guyra Central School started off with strong bowling.
Brendan bowled so fiercely that he got two wickets and snapped the bail. Angus Dullaway, Aidan Brown, Tommy Ryan, Max Blyton, Jack Soraghan, Jason Mowbray, and Toby Handebo stopped many Ben Venue balls from reaching the boundary.
In the end, Ben Venue were too strong and came away with the win, bowling Guyra out for 58 runs off 17 overs.
Tommy Ryan was named the player's player from both teams, and received a white kookaburra game shirt.
The Guyra Central School Cricket Team thank Miss Fletcher; the umpires; the scorers, particularly Steph Cameron; and their parents for driving them to the game and supporting them. They wish Ben Venue good luck in the next round.
