One strike team – 17 firefighters from the Central Coast – will be based in Guyra this week, helping local crews with fire ground operations.
“Everyone’s looking forward to being able to assist in an area where they normally don’t work,” team leader Chris Bishop said. “It’s a good opportunity to work with new crews.”

The Fire and Rescue NSW strike team has four engines, each manned by four firefighters, with Mr Bishop as team leader.
The team arrived on Sunday evening, and will be deployed in the area until Thursday. They will work 12-hour night shifts from 10pm to 10am. Tonight is their first night.
A crew from Newcastle is already out at the fire ground.
Forming strike teams from other zones is not a weekly or monthly occurrence, but often happens during major emergencies.
"It's great we've got the resources to assist here," Mr Bishop said. "It's a strong feature of the system that the resources can be deployed to different parts of the state as required.”
