The PG-rated blockbuster movie The Greatest Showman will be screened in Civic Park once sun sets.

The event starts at 5.30pm with live music, a circus workshop, and football for children.

Entry is free for all. Families can bring picnics and rugs, or buy food and non-alcoholic drinks at the park.

Newcastle Permanent is bringing the Cinema Under the Stars screenings to 16 towns in regional NSW.

The free outdoor film showings brought families and communities together, Newcastle Permanent's Judy Hansen said.
