Well, that is, Armidale Friends Of the Library (AFOL) officially opened its dragon mural, painted on a wall of the children's section of the Armidale War Memorial Library by local artists, Fiona McDonald and David Allan.
It has already drawn lots of attention and a great deal of adult comment. AFOL joint presidents Chrissie Stephen and Mary De Gabriele said they only wished it was their idea.
We're only responsible for this dragon only in a financial sense really.

"The idea was from Jenny Watson, who is the children's librarian. It was a comment made by somebody, and she followed up. Between one thing and another, we came on board to pay for the paint because we thought it was a terrific idea," Mary said.
"It's taken quite a while in the execution, but well worth the wait."

Crissie said she was very happy with the finished product.
"Part of what we do is promoting awareness of the library to the community, promoting awareness that this is a communal space," she said.
"I think a mural like this is wonderful. It makes the library a wonderful place for parents to bring their children.
"We hope that parents will feel encouraged and that children's imagination will take flight."
Cr Margaret O'Connor said Armidale Regional Council loved the mural.
It's a small community project and we're all thrilled with the outcome.

"We're delighted with this beautiful image that is actually already lifting the spirits of the staff," she said.
"We're so excited, and look forward to how our kids are going to react when Story Time starts."
Cr O'Connor thought using local artists for the project further showcased the incredible creativity available in this region.
