“It’s very exciting to receive this funding, as it will allow some long-needed internal upgrades, and beef up security of the facility,” President of the Guyra and District Historical Society Martha Weiderman said.

The funding will provide greater security and new cases to protect the society’s collection of hundreds of historically significant items.

“We have a number of exhibits in the museum that are of national historical significance,” Ms Weiderman said.

“The upgrades to electronic security in and around the museum will certainly give great peace of mind. 

“We will also be able to move many exhibits from open tabletops to safer display cabinets for all to enjoy.” 

Northern Tablelands Member Adam Marshall announced the funding today.

“The museum is a wonderful treasure trove with many items held there of local, regional and event national importance,” Mr Marshall said.

“I’m thrilled the hardworking volunteers who keep the doors open and the treasures safe will be able to create a safer place, with displays designed to showcase the collection well into the future.” 

“I was pleased to congratulate the historical society, and thank them for the important work they do in securing Guyra’s past for the future.” 

The Regional Cultural Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.6 billion Regional Growth Fund.
