Armidale Services Club general manager Scott Sullivan handed over a cheque for $3600 to the treasurer of the Northern Tablelands Group of the CWA Dorothy Every on Tuesday afternoon.

Scott said the funding was collected from the club’s members and guests by asking them to buy “a bale of hay” for a farmer at $20 per bale.
Dorothy said the donation would find its way to struggling farmers in this region and was sure it would be appreciated wherever it went.

“This is going to mean a lot to the people who we are going to distribute it to,” Dorothy said.
“It is going to help with some of the problems they’ve got, between the bushfires and drought. It may help with schooling, with some of the necessary items they need and are having difficulty in obtaining.”
Dorothy said things were still harsh in the bush.
“You need to take a drive out there. When you see hills where all the trees are dead on them, it’s not a very nice scene. A lot of extremely tough people out there,” she said.
“And we want our donation to remain anonymous, so they will accept it, and not feel obligated to have to do something about it.
“We wish to thank the services club for their mighty effort.”
