Saturday will see riders from clubs around the region ride down the centreline for the annual Zone 13 dressage championships and a show jumping shoot out competition.
Bundarra hosted the most recent championships but now Armidale Horse and Pony Club will take the reins and hold the event.
Competitors from the under nines age groups through to the associate 17 to 25-year-old riders have entered.
Event organiser and rider Rebecca Cameron said entries have exceeded expectations and they will put all three arenas at the centre to use.
“There has been fantastic entries for the dressage,” she said.
“We have 50 horses entered with just under 100 tests being ridden.
“It is wonderful to see the local facilities being used by the local pony club.”
Following the dressage, Martin’s Gully will host a show jumping shoot out with competitors jumping from E to B grade.
Armidale’s interclub, set for Sunday, will commence after the Martin’s Gully event with the show jumping section of the competition taking place. The remaining interclub events – show riding and sporting – commence on Sunday.
“It has been a really great season so far,” Cameron said.
The aggregate pointscore champions for each age category for riders in the southern part of the Zone will be announced as well as the champion club for the season.
Guyra currently lead with Armidale in second.
