TRIBUTE: Armidale Pipe Band marches into position near the memorial fountain just before 5pm.
Armildale Pipe Band was part of a world-wide event to play the commemorative tune “The Battle’s O’er” at exactly 5pm in Central Park on Remembrance Day to mark the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice of Compiegne, officially ending World War I in France on November 11, 1918.

Armidale Pipe Band Pipe Major Craig Ritchie said the event took place at the same time remember and honour all the bagpipers who were killed when they stood up in front of the troops to lead those deadly charges on the Western Front with only their music.
