Ms Tan is the founder of a community-led initiative for female programmers in Asia, TechLadies, and will appear at public events at Armidale and in Sydney. The events are sponsored by Jobs for NSW to coincide with Women's Entrepreneurship Day on November 19.
TechLadies is an online community with more than 2400 members that has helped thousands of women across Asia advance as programmers and gain financial independence through careers in the tech industry. It has taught 442 women in Singapore and Malaysia to code, and has seen nine women, without a prior programming background, hired as software engineers.
