While the club is yet to officially part ways with Trent Barrett, Hasler will reclaim the clipboard when the Sea Eagles check in for day one of pre-season on Monday.

Hasler is back seven years after walking out of Brookvale for Belmore, having just led Manly to the 2011 premiership.

Jake revealed how former Sea Eagles players, including ex-captain Jamie Lyon, have already revealed what life will be like under the two-time title-winning coach.

Current skipper Daly Cherry-Evans was also part of the team in 2011.

"That was his first year of first grade and they won the comp so obviously he's got great raps. He (Cherry-Evans) loved that," Jake said.

"I've spoken to blokes like Jamie Lyon and Matty Ballin - they really enjoyed playing under him.

"They played the bulk of their career under him and had great success. They've only got good things to say. It's exciting going forward."

The Trbojevic brothers will form a key part of any Sea Eagles renaissance, conjuring up memories of Stewart brothers Glenn and Brett under Hasler.

They even wear the same numbered jerseys.

"They're great memories, 2008 and 2011, and I played with some of the blokes who played in those sides," Jake said.

"They're great players who loved him as a coach. Hopefully he can have the same impact with us."

Tom had barely cracked the Sea Eagles' under-16s side when Hasler controversially left, but is keen for the hard taskmaster to weave his magic again.

Hasler has given the pair at least another week off after their football commitments were extended with the Kangaroos two Tests in Auckland.

"We're all looking forward to the year ahead. We didn't like how we finished up this year, and to finish 15th is not good enough," Tom said.

"(Des has) played for Manly and coached Manly to two premierships. I'm hoping he can lead us to another premiership, that'd be great."
