The new competition allowed for a number of teams to rejoin the rugby league fraternity after a number of years in the wilderness.
Guyra returned to the field after sitting out 2017 and claimed the inaugural premiership.
Ashford got back off the ground to make the finals.
Uralla, Bingara and Walcha returned to Group 19 from Group 4 while Tenterfield made their way down from the Border League competition.
Warialda went through a re-building phase and opted to shift from the top tier-competition to second division.
The feedback for the competition was praised among the clubs involved, as well as a number of A grade clubs applauding the decision to introduce a “park footy” competition.
Fairfax Media caught up with Tenterfield captain-coach and club president Brendan Minns, Warialda president Neil Parker and Ashford president Dean Beveridge through the season to hear their thoughts on the tournament.
Tenterfield captain-coach and club president Brendan Minns said:
“It is great. Put it this way, this time in Border League if we were a couple of weeks away from finals, we would have played everyone already four times.”
“Border League you could cruise along in a four-team comp, three make it through to the finals whereas that is not the case here so the competition is unreal.”
“From a club perspective, us coming down here with the girls is massive because the girls add a whole other dimension to the club and we love it.
“We are grateful we came this way and the opportunity arose for us to come down here.”
