This Sunday, a fortnight after the TroutFest, an event for young anglers will be held at Malpas Dam.
Go Fishing at Malpas! is "a day specifically to get children interested in fishing," Norm Williams, from the Guyra Anglers Club, said.

“It’s a free day, and all the kids will get a gift bag and a barbeque.”
Malpas Dam will be open from 7am, with a presentation ceremony at 2pm.
"There's a massive amount of prizes for all the different categories," Mr Williams said, "including fishing lures and rods."
Anglers can either bring their boat, to go out on the water and fish; or fish from the shore.
“There will be people there showing the younger kids how to throw the bait in,” Mr Williams said. “We get a lot of parents there, too, to give them a hand.”
People of all ages are welcome, though.
This is the third year the event has run. Organisers are expecting a turnout of 100 people. In years gone by, people have come from Armidale, Glen Innes, Uralla, and Walcha.
The event is held in conjunction with Gone Fishing Day, a nationwide celebration of the sport.
Go Fishing at Malpas! is brought by the Guyra Hotel Anglers Club, NSW Recreational Fishing Trusts, and the Guyra & District Chamber of Commerce. Malpas Dam, Sunday, October 14, from 7am.
