The party voted to back the incumbent MP, who stood unopposed, at a pre-selection meeting in Guyra on Friday.
Mr Marshall declined to speak to Fairfax Media about his successful pre-selection.
It will be the third time Mr Marshall has run for the seat he’s held since the 2013 by-election.
Nationals Northern Tablelands electorate council chair Alan St Clair said Mr Marshall’s ability to get things done was remarkable
“He’s handed out money for good projects across the electorate – hospitals, schools, airports, you name it, he’s been there,” Mr St Clair said.
Mr Marshall secured a quarter of a billion dollars for the electorate in the most recent state budget.

“He’s not a tired old politician doing the bare minimum, he hits the road running.
“He’s looked upon most favourably by our members as an excellent guy.”
