In the opening 10 minutes both teams had some attacking chances and it was some great goalkeeping skills by Ben Venue’s Joe Schmude that was able to repel the Narranga attack.
Narranga went ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute when the ball bounced over Schmude and a desperate attempt by one of the Ben Venue full-backs to clear the ball ended with what appeared to be an own goal.

In the second-half both teams had many opportunities to add to the score with plenty of attacking play happening in front of both goals and the defence holding strong for both teams.
In the end Narranga were able to hold on to their narrow lead as the score remained at 1-0.
Mr Cotter thanked the Ben Venue team on their fantastic achievements this year reaching the final eight teams in the state and also thank all the parents and supporters who attended each of the matches.
Narranga coach Mitchell Johnston from said it was a very tight game.
"It was a cooler day for the Coffs Harbour kids, but it was good to get up here. I'ts been raining quite a lot down on the coast," Mr Johnston said.
As a UNE graduate Mr Johnston said he knew what to expect from the weather.
"Half my boys are refugee boys from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, so they were a little bit nervous about coming up here to the cold," he said.
"My boys love their sport, especially their soccer. They live it and breathe it and they're fantastic kids. It's great for them to be part of school sports."
He said his team would now play teams from the larger centres in Sydney and Newcastle, which would be good experience for the country players.
