St John volunteers are highly trained, with nationally recognised qualifications.
Divisional Superintendent Peter Cameron believes volunteering is a great way to learn new skills and give back to the community.
“Our members come from all walks of life. It is their diversity that contributes so much to St John as an organisation and to the other members of the division.
“While some members use St John as a stepping stone to a career in health services,” Mr Cameron said, “many others find it has application in their work, as the skills are universal.”
St John NSW has more than 3,000 volunteers who provide first aid and health services at almost 6,000 community or public events each year across NSW.
