Guyra’s under 12s are set to take on their Glen Innes rivals when they battle for Group 19 glory.

The junior Super Spuds team finished the regular season in first and thumped the Magpies 26-4 in the major semi-final on August 25 to book their spot in the grand final.

A couple of players were struck with illness prior to the semi-final and they only took the field with 12 players.

Jason Campbell and Luke Blyton co-coach the team which contains some of last year’s under 10s grand final-winning side.

Campbell believes they are in with a chance if they can keep the nerves at bay.

“They should go alright hopefully if the nerves don’t get to them and they just play the way they played all year,” he said.

Oscar Atkin will finish the season as the competition’s leading tryscorer and pointscorer with 67 tries and 13 goals for a total of 306 points.

The under 10s team made the semi-finals but bowed out after going down 46-14 to Moree.

The Group 19 junior rugby league grand finals will be at Inverell’s Kamilaroi Oval.
