A Lego sales and exhibition event is coming to Tamworth this week, promising more than 600kg of preloved parts, sets and minifigures to pick over and take home.
There will also be displays of Lego sculptures.
The organiser, BrickResales’ Judy Friedman, said she was expecting the event would bring in hundreds of families.
“The atmosphere is electric, with everyone mooching through over 600kg of Lego finding their pot of gold, their rare piece, their missing parts, or simply taking home a bag of Lego to create something special,” she said.
“Lego is an amazing way to escape into a world of creativity, a world of non-judgment and a world of simply ‘being’ … Lego can bring people together.
“This is what BrickResales does: They bring people together through Lego.
“They create a place of non-judgment and freedom to buy as much or as little as people choose, a space to help others find their treasures, and freedom to stay as long as they please.”

The events are held regularly around the Brisbane area, but it’s the first one for Tamworth.
Entry is by gold-coin donation, which usually goes to domestic violence support group RizeUp but this time will help buy resources, such as books and medical supplies, for the school’s missions trip to Fiji in September.
“It’s just become such a [popular] event. People just can’t wait for it to come,” Ms Friedman said.
“Some people stay the whole day: they will be lined up at the door in the morning and we’ll have to push them out the door at the end of the day.”
- The main event will be held at Carinya Christian School, Tuesday and Wednesday, 9am to 3pm.
- A pre-event will be held on Monday for people who have Lego to sell, 10am-2pm.
