The area’s food and drink producers will be offering their product in a new departure for the Chill N Glen festival.
In the Town Hall on the Saturday, high-end producers will give tastings of a range of foods, including spirits, wine and beers (including alcoholic ginger beer).
The organiser of the section, David Scott of the Glen Gowrie Distillery on Furracabad Road, said the event would feature “handpicked producers who are excited to showcase their products to Glen Innes locals and visitors.”
It won’t be a fully licensed bar but drink in bottles and cans will be on sale and also tastings for consumption there on offer.
“Licensing the Town Hall for small tastings and closed bottle sales will allow the public to try our local Deepwater boutique beer, table wines from Moree, Tingha and Tenterfield, hand crafted alcoholic ginger beer and spirits and liqueurs from Glen Innes’ own distillery.”
Apart from a variety of alcoholic drink, there will be “fermented foods, award winning smoked trout, venison, organic cheeses, olives and olive oils.”
There will also be locally produced jam, pickle and honey.
David Scott said: “For the sweet enthusiast caramels, fudge, nougat and marshmallows will illustrate what a sweet is supposed to taste like!! This showcase is all about local and regional food and beverages, with flavour!”
