Green broke both bones and dislocated his ankle in a match in August last year and was airlifted to Tamworth where he received surgery.
Post operation, the doctors said it was likely he would not play “within the next couple of years”.
Despite the initial diagnosis, Green “went through the physio and all the steps that they wanted me to do” and made his comeback for the Roos off the bench against Guyra on Sunday.
“I did nurse it on the weekend. It always was in the back of my head,” he said.

“Because I have been running the water and doing the sports trainer thing, it was to finally get back out on the park.
“It was just good to be back out there with all the boys.”
He came through the game unscathed but was understandably sore after 10 months off the field.
“Pretty sore but so is the rest of my body,” he said.
The Roos faced top-four side the Guyra Super Spuds for their round 10 fixture and were gallant in a 32-26 defeat.
In other Roos news, the club have announced the their charity will be on July 21 with funds to be donated to Buy a Bale New England North West and the Walcha Support Group.
